A Message from the President

Dear Member:

One of the hardest parts of being president is writing the President’s Message for the bulletin.  In fact, it only gets worse the more times you have to do it.  After all, how many times can a person write the same things in different words?  Thankfully the job is made easier by the fact that we are continually adding new programs.  For example, this past summer we launched a שבת afternoon Father-Son Learning Program called אבות ובנים , which was an unqualified success.  As well, we introduced the רבי-תלמיד program that was greeted with much enthusiasm.

Of course, all of our programs and שיעורים would not be possible without the dedication and hard work of a number of individuals such as the רב , our מגידי שיעורים , and our many other volunteers.  We all owe them a tremendous amount of gratitude.

However, these various programs increase the operating costs of the shul.  To help defray the costs, we have put together a list of sponsorship opportunities and everyone is encouraged to support as much as possible, “איש כמתנת ידו כברכת ה' א-לקיך אשר נתן-לך.

I would also like to highlight a change that has been made in the shul’s administration.  Yosi Rubinoff has accepted the position as full-time Director of Operations of our shul.  He is now responsible for all of the shul’s operations.  At the same time, Andrew Novak has decided to step down from his position after 4 years of dedicated service to the shul.  I would like to take this opportunity to wish Yosi much הצלחה in his new role and to thank Andrew for all his hard work.  Andrew will still be available for all your catering needs.

The מעם לועז , as well as others, writes on the פסוק , “את-הברכה , that you listen” (דברים 11:27) that when ה' sends a blessing, He sends it in abundance, for it contains several blessings.  However, when He sends a catastrophe, He sends it in a limited fashion because He is compassionate.  This is why the term “את ” is used with regards to the blessing, for it always includes something else.  Hence it does not appear with regard to the curse.  May we all be זוכה that this year, 5768, be a year of many blessings for all of כלל ישראל .

On behalf of my family, the Executive and the Board of Governors I would like to wish each and every member of  Shomrai Shabbos-Chevra Mishanyos along with the rest of K'lal Yisroel much health, happiness and hatzlacha.

Yours truly,

Abe Gottesman
