LIST OF SHUL ACTIVITIES

& PROGRAMS

NURSERY Every Shabbos morning from 10 am – 11:30 am for children ages 2-5.  Games, toys, stories and snacks.  Held in the shul’s nursery room.
BOYS’ PROGRAM Every Shabbos morning from 10 am – 11 am for boys in grades 1 – 6.
Led by Yitzi Nussbaum.  Stories, learning, games and prizes.  Takes place in the classroom beside the Reiter Bais Hamedrash.
GIRLS’ PROGRAM Every Shabbos morning downstairs in the Social Hall for girls in grades 1 – 6.  Under the guidance of Mrs. Janet Stern.  Davening, stories and prizes for all.
YOUTH MINYAN Led by Yaacov Levinson, this minyan is intended for high school boys, and gives them a chance to lead the davening and to lain.
ANNUAL KAPAROS PROGRAM An opportunity to use live chickens for Kapparos.  Takes place in the Ohel Sarah Shul Succah.  Men, women & children are welcome.  Special treats for children.
SIMCHAS BAIS HASHOEIVAH In the Ohel Sarah Shul Succah (weather permitting), all adults are welcome to come and enjoy music/food/simcha.
CHANUKAH PARTY A party for children of all ages.  Arts and crafts, face painting, costumes and a fun time for children and parents alike.
ADULT CHANUKAH PARTY An event for adults of all ages.  Live entertainment, music, food, and a relaxed social atmosphere.
PURIM PARTY A party for children of all ages.  Arts and crafts, face painting, costumes and a fun time for children and parents alike.
LAG B’OMER GET TOGETHER Roasted marshmallows, loot bags and a great storyteller.  Children of all ages are invited.
PICNIC An event for all ages.  Bar-b-q hot dogs and hamburgers.  Games and toys for children of all ages.  Parents can relax in the shade and watch their children run around.  An enjoyable event not to be missed.
YOUNG COUPLES DINNER A chance for young couples who have been married for less than 5 years to get to know each other and the Shul in a relaxed setting.  A nominal fee is charged.
YESODEI YESHURUN SEFORIM PROJECT Reprinted sforim of Rabbi Gedalia Felder zt”l are presented to boys and girls throughout the city.  Boys receive it at the time of their Bar Mitzvah through their shul.  Girls receive their sefer at the time of their graduation from elementary schools.  This program has been in existence since the petirah of Rabbi Felder in an effort to disseminate the Torah of Rabbi Felder to the younger generation and memorialize Rabbi Felder zt”l.
HASHKAMA MINYAN Takes place every Shabbos morning in the Reiter Bais Hamedrash and is well attended by those enjoy an early davening followed by a shiur by Rabbi Yossi Weitman.
NEILAS HACHAG Held on the last day of each Yom Tov (Pesach, Shavuos, and Succos) between Mincha and Maariv downstairs in the Horenfeldt Social Hall.  Beautiful Divrei Torah and singing as we say goodbye to the Yom Tov.  Sponsors are welcome.
CHILDREN’S LIBRARY Thanks to a generous donation by Richard and Deborah Cohen, a children’s library has been established containing Jewish children’s books.  The books are intended for children to be used in the Shul.
ANNUAL SEUDAH SHLISHIS COMMEMORATING THE YAHRTZEIT OF HARAV GEDALIA FELDER, ZT”L Held annually to mark the Yahrtzeit of our late Rav, zt”l.  Special keynote speaker.  All members are invited to attend.
THE EZZY AND YETTA HORENDFELDT GMILAS CHESSED FUND A Gemach Fund established in memory of Ezzy and Yetta Horenfeldt.  The fund was founded to assist people in need of interest-free loans.
THE HORENFELDT SOCIAL HALL The Shul’s Social Hall is actively used throughout the year for both public and private functions.  Full catering facilities are available.
THE EZZY AND YETTA HORENFELDT TAPE LIBRARY The Shul’s tape library was donated in memory of Ezzy and Yetta Horenfeldt A”H.  The tape library is located in the Reiter Bais Hamedrash of our Shul.  Tapes on a variety of interesting and timely topics are available, including Rabbi Berel Wein’s history series, Rabbi Frand’s Parsha series, tapes of Rabbi U. Milevsky and Rabbi Y. Reisman’s Nach series.
THE ROTH FAMILY LIBRARY The Roth Library contains many seforim and is well used by the members of our Shul as well as the Rabbis and laymen of our community.
ENGLISH BOOK LIBRARY Our Shul has a wonderful selection of English-language books on a wide variety of Jewish topics.
THE SHOMRAI SHABBOS WEINBAUM GEMACH FUND Established by the generosity of Mr. & Mrs. Jack Weinbaum.  The fund was founded to assist people in need of interest-free loans.
THE SHOMRAI SHABBOS HOUSING FUND Established by the generosity of Mr. & Mrs. Jack Weinbaum.  The goal of this fund is to provide the members and those wishing to become members of Shomrai Shabbos with an opportunity to remain part of the community and to assist in acquiring or maintaining affordable housing.
THE MEZZUZAH GEMACH This Gemach was established in memory of Rochel Mirel Felder and Pessy Heineman Hendler.  This Gemach lends mezuzos to people on a temporary basis.
TZEDAKAH/MAOS CHITTIN CAMPAIGN The Shul is proud to run a bi-annual Tzedakah Campaign for Yomim Tovim.  The majority of the funds collected are distributed locally, with a portion of the collected funds sent to Eretz Yisroel.
MORNING AND EVENING LEARNING PROGRAMS The Shul runs a myriad of shiurim programs and Chavrusos every morning and evening.  These learning activities are attended by many members of the shul and the general community.  A full list of the programs can be found elsewhere in the Bulletin.

LOST AND FOUND   Any articles that are lying around the shul for a long period of time and are not claimed by the owner within ninety days,  will be considered Hefker (ownerless) and will be disposed of by the shul.
